Superintendent-Principal Message

Dear West Side Families,

I am truly honored to be the Superintendent/Principal and to be part of West Side's incredible history of being a "Small School with a Big Impact."

West Side’s reputation as a “hidden jewel for learning” is a testament to the dedicated teachers and staff who provide deep, engaging, and high-quality educational experiences for students.

Our focus is on developing the whole child through core instruction and strong enrichment programs: music, art, band, garden, Spanish. At West Side, individual differences and cultural backgrounds are respected, critical and creative thinking are encouraged, and we aim to strengthen each student’s power of imagination. Our school is a place where children want to learn, where they thrive together as a community, and where they feel safe and loved.

West Side is deeply committed to engaging families in their children's education. We have a rich volunteer program with strong parental involvement, including the Felta Education Foundation which supports the school by organizing volunteers and fundraising for our enrichment programs.

The West Side Board of Trustees dedicates their valuable time and expertise to work collaboratively for the success of faculty, students, and families. Together we are extremely proud to welcome you to our exceptional community!

One of the things that brings me great joy as an educator is making personal connections with students and families. I welcome your feedback and thoughtful suggestions to continually support the health and growth of our "hidden jewel.”

Kindest regards,

Rima Meechan
