2026-2027 School Year Enrollment & Transfers — West Side Elementary
Welcome, West Side Families!
We’re excited to start another great school year & welcome both new and returning students. Below is important information for enrolling in the 2026–27 school year, whether you’re joining us for the first time or returning.
In-District Families
Live within the West Side District? Your child is guaranteed a space.
To enroll:
- Click here to complete your Intent to Enroll Form today!
- Provide: proof of residence, birth certificate, immunization record, and (for Kindergarten) an oral health exam
- Submit forms to the school office

Out-of-District Families — Returning Students
Families outside the district must renew transfers each year.
Steps:
- Complete a new Interdistrict Transfer Request Form (available in (English & Spanish)
- Submit it to your home district office
- Approved transfers must reach West Side by February 27, 2026
*Returning out-of-district students & siblings receive priority before new applicants.
Out-of-District Families — New & Kindergarten
If you live outside the district and want to attend West Side:
- Attend a Kindergarten Observation Day School Tour:
🗓 Jan 21–22, 2026 (mornings) — CLOSED, call front desk if you need help - AFTER you attend a tour, fill out your Intent to Enroll Form by January 30, 2026 to ensure a spot in the lottery.
- Lottery applications (Intent to Enroll Form) due by January 30, 2026.
- Late applications after January 30, 2026 go on the waitlist.
- If the number of applicants for Kindergarten exceeds the available spots, a public lottery will be held at a regular board meeting on February 10 2026. *See notes below on lottery priority
- Once notified that your student has been accepted, complete the West Side Enrollment Packet with all required documents.
Kindergarten Requirements
Before the first day of school, please submit:
- Proof of birth
- Full immunization record
- Oral health exam form (from your dentist)
- Proof of residence (if indistrict)
Reminders
- In-district students are always guaranteed placement.
- Out-of-district placement depends on space and lottery order.
- Transfers may be revoked for attendance or behavior issues.
- Submit paperwork early to avoid delays.
- Transfer student placement can shift pending a resident student wishing to enroll between now July 1, 2026.
- The Transfer Wait List does not take priority over students living within the school boundaries.
Kindergarten Lottery Process
Eligibility:
- Children must be 5 years old by September 1, 2026.
- District residents are automatically enrolled.
Inter-district Attendance Permit (IDAP) Transfers:
- Applications received by the last day of January are entered into the lottery.
- Applications received after January are added to the end of the waitlist in the order received.
Lottery Pools by Priority:
- In District Students
- Siblings of Current Students – Children with a brother or sister already enrolled.
- Children/Grandchildren of District Employees – Children or grandchildren of current staff.
- Siblings New to the District – Children with a sibling new to the district in grades with openings.
- New Inter-district Students – All other applicants.
Additional Rules:
- Twins/multiples are entered separately; if one is drawn, the other takes the next available seat (as long as class size allows).
- Lottery results will be mailed to families.
- Final approval of IDAPs will be completed no later than 14 calendar days after the start of the school year.
