WEST SIDE SUPERINTENDENT/PRINCIPAL SEARCH

Dear West Side Family and Community,
I want to update you on the search for our next superintendent/principal. As you know, Mrs. Menlove is leaving West Side to spend time with her family, including an arriving grandchild. Mrs. Menlove has been superintendent/principal at West Side for 3 years. During her leadership, we have weathered so much. She has ensured that West Side is working tirelessly to meet the needs of our students while it stays financially stable. Mrs. Menlove is committed to a smooth transition and assisting in any way she can.
The Board has begun the search process to recruit, interview, and hire our next superintendent/principal. We have contracted with the Sonoma County of Education’s Human Resources Office to assist us with the process. Working with us from SCOE is John Laughlin, Assistant Superintendent of SCOE’s Human Resources Department and Loyal Carlon, a retired district administrator and SCOE consultant for superintendent searches. Mr. Carlon will be the district’s primary contact throughout the search. John Laughlin assisted us in our search when we hired Mrs. Menlove.
The West Side superintendent/principal vacancy has been advertised with a closing date for applications on March 26, 2021. To ensure parent, staff, and community input into the selection process, the district has posted a Superintendent/Principal Survey available by clicking on this link and also accessible on the webpage. Parents, staff, and community are encouraged to complete and submit the survey online. The summary of that survey will assist the Board in identifying the desired professional and personal qualities of our next superintendent/principal, and in developing screening criteria and interview questions.
Following the paper screening of applicants, the Board expects to interview top prospects in early April. We hope to announce our next superintendent/principal at our April 20th meeting. The next superintendent/principal will officially start on July 1. Mrs. Menlove will be here until the end of her contract, which is June 30.
