West Side Lunch & Snack Policy

Please provide your child with a healthy, nutritious morning snack and lunch each day. Limit the sugar, and do not send candy or sodas. Good nutrition plays an important role in brain and body development and affects the learning process.  Read here for more details.

Eat more fruits and veggies - Half their lunchbox should be fruits and vegetables every day.

Try whole grains -  Use whole wheat breads, brown rice, or other grains.

Re-think their drink - Serve low fat milk or water instead of sugary drinks.

Focus on lean protein - Choose protein foods like beans, fish, lean meats, yogurt and nuts.

Slow down on sweets - Lunchboxes don't need to regularly include sweets.  These actually make learning harder. Check out this article.

Keep your Bobcat active - Find ways for them to exercise and be active for at least 1 hour a day like running,  dancing, riding bikes, or playing a sport with friends.
