West Side is a magical place to be and it wouldn't be as special without our students, staff, and parent/community involvement.
Please meet new staff members joining our BobCat Family this year:
Braiden Gugel - District Secretary/Office Manager
Ms. Braiden is a lifelong Sonoma County resident where she and her husband Tommy have raised their three children Sage, Scout and Lola. The majority of her work experience has been at Windsor Unified School District and in the wine industry. She loves hanging out with her family and dogs, gardening and is very excited to be working with elementary school students and staff again!
Christa Jimenez Suarez - 1st grade Instructional Assistant and upper grade Bilingual Intervention Assistant
Ms. Christa is a mom to 4 great kids, ages 8, 11, 15 and 20. She worked at Washington Middle School in Cloverdale as an Assistant Cook. "I love spending time with family (gaming and movie nights), going to the river and beach, camping, cooking, reading (love JD Robb) and occasionally putting pen to paper and writing poetry. I also enjoy different crafts (wreath making is her latest adventure). Someday, I hope to travel a bit and buy a Vespa! I'm excited about working with you all at West Side. It truly is an amazing place to be".
Mayra Nuñez - 3rd grade Instructional Assistant
Hello, my name is Mayra Nuñez. I am 23 years old and I have been working with kids since I graduated high school back in 2019. Aside from working with West Side, I am an After School Program Site Coordinator for the City of Healdsburg in the community services department. My role as a site coordinator is to oversee all children in the program from TK/K - 2nd grade levels and support my staff in all areas necessary. I don't currently have any children, but would love to have a family in the near future. Both of my parents are from Jalisco, Mexico and I am the second oldest of 4 girls. I enjoy being outdoors and spending time with my loved ones. An interesting fact about me is that I am the only left handed person in my family and you can always win my heart with food especially tamales and anything sweet, I am a big sweets person!!
Moises Ramirez (Mr. Moe) -- Custodian
Mr. Moe's work experiences have been mostly in food manufacturing management, over 20 years. He had his own food manufacturing consulting business for five years and a janitorial business for 3 years. "I have two wonderful adult children Jonathan and Bella Nadia. I grew up in Healdsburg and raised the family here, yes still here. My hobbies are home improvements, food science, and dancing. One interesting fact about me is that I was an exchange student to Belgium from Healdsburg High. I got the travel bug and have seen fourteen countries. My favorite food is everything spicy. I like to formulate sauces for myself and friends that want to sell to retail stores. I feel very fortunate to be with the West Side School Family".
Shelly Bouey -- After Care Assistant
Rashele (but I go by Shelly) - I have worked and lived in HB off and on for the past 20 plus years, between Cloverdale and Healdsburg. Working with seniors of Healdsburg, in the check stands at local Safeway for a number of years, to the late Fitch Mtn. Day Camp aftercare program. I have 2 teenage children, Madison who is 16 years old @ HHS and my son Mason who is 13 @ HJH. I am recently married this past July to my amazing husband Buddy. I enjoy gardening, rehoming way too many houseplants :) and creating charcuterie boards for entertaining family and friends.
Funny Fact about me ~ my cat Boots is the love of my life, although I am allergic to cats!

Bond Project Update
We will be replacing the two old portables on campus (rooms 7 & 8) with a new school library and a space to provide student supports (i.e. RSP, Counseling, Speech, etc.) installing new playground equipment in both the lower grade and upper grade playground areas, and upgrading the school's driveway. No confirmed start date yet, but as soon as we have definitive information to share, we'll invite everyone to an evening meeting to discuss the plans and how construction will be phased in over the school year. The earliest tentative start would be sometime in September.

We’ve done it!!! After almost two years in the making, our book, You Are Amazing Like a Rocket, is out in the world, everywhere books are sold! For this project, we got to work with young people from 25 countries and across the US. They made posters with encouraging messages for their communities, and sent us photos of what they made. This book is a compilation of their inspiring creations!
The book also includes 8 tear-out posters made by the kids behind the Peptoc Hotline, and also features interviews from all the extraordinary youth and mental health advocates we had the honor to collaborate with while making this book.
PLEASE HELP US SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THE BOOK!
We’re also looking for anyone who can add a quick review on Amazon, (click on the stars at the top, and then the “write a review” button)—or even send us a quote and we will post it on Instagram! Proceeds from book sales will help us produce more community and youth-centered projects.
 What is PepToc?
PepToc is a free hotline featuring pre-recorded words of encouragement and life advice.
