We offer Homework Help at the Healdsburg Mini Branch, located in the in the Community Center every Tuesday from 3:30 to 5:30 PM. (We are temporarily located at the HCC, until May as our library building is undergoing a renovation project.) This drop-in service features on-site tutors who assist students with a variety of subjects, including homework support, reading, math skills, and any other areas where a student may need improvement. Many of our tutors also work one-on-one with students throughout the week, but this drop-in service has always been particularly popular at the Healdsburg Library and stays consistent throughout the school year. We only take a break when the schools are on holiday or summer. I realize that many schools offer tutoring before or after school, but this drop-in service provides yet another opportunity that may fit with the busy schedules of students and parents. We have been offering this program for six years and are proud to be the only library in Sonoma County providing free, in-person tutoring.

October 2024 - The Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE) is proud to offer two free resources to school families looking to better support the mental health of their children and teens, and we hope school and district employees will help us spread the word! The first resource is a consultation line that pairs mental health professionals with parents and caregivers looking for strategies and tools to support youth experiencing mental health or behavioral challenges. The second resource is a virtual workshop series that covers key mental health topics impacting youth. You can find the link to the series in Spanish here, and the consultation line is also accessible in Spanish. Watch the video to learn more.
As a valued member of our community, we would like to invite you to a small group discussion about early learning and child care for the Sonoma County Child Care Planning Council (CCPC) Needs Assessment. Focus group discussions will take place in October and November. There are options in person and online, and in Spanish and English. Participants will receive a $30 gift card after the discussion (one per family). Food and child care will be provided for free at the in-person groups. Please see the flyer below for more information and dates. If you would like to participate, please share your interest at bit.ly/Child-Care-Focus-Group. Please note: We may not have room for everyone, so responding does not guarantee a space. If there is space, we will confirm with you within one week. Thank you for helping Sonoma County advocate for the early learning and child care that families need!
