Music Program Update

The students are off to a great start with music this year! Older grades (2nd - 6th) are learning songs on kalimba (AKA “African thumb piano”), and younger students are singing and having a blast with body percussion.

As some of you may know, this year is a bit of an exploratory year for our music program while we wait for a permanent music room to be built. Younger students will rotate through various instruments throughout the year, and older students will mostly focus on kalimba but also get a chance to try other things along the way.

If you have a 5th or 6th grade student, you may have heard them playing kalimba at home! We have instruments out on loan for the year, and they can access our library of songs and resources on www.playmarimba.com via the “Student Library” section (password is 1234).

It’s been a pleasure getting to know everyone, and I look forward to a wonderful year ahead!
