Parent/Guardian Health & Safety Understanding for In-person Instruction for the 2020-2021 School Year

For all West Side Parents:  In order for students to return to campus, please read, understand, and agree to the following by Thursday, April 1:

1.      Three Plans outline West Side COVID-19 Safety Protocols for in-person instruction:  COVID-19 Safety Plan (for CDPH), COVID-19 Prevention Plan (for CalOSHA), and Supplemental Questions (for SCDH).  All three documents are available online on the West Side website under the COVID Information for Families tab, and are available in hard copy in the office.  Parent/Guardian acknowledges that they have received and reviewed these plans.

2.      Bobcats On Campus 2021 - Instructions for Parents and Caregivers

Before You Leave Home

  • Check for symptoms of COVID-19

    • By bringing your student to campus, you are attesting that the student is feeling well, has no symptoms, and has not been in contact with someone who is confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19.  West Side families are relying on each other to keep everyone safe. Attachment A

  • Students should bring to school only:

    • A properly fitted mask that covers their nose, mouth, and surrounding areas of the lower face, and meets dress code requirements. It may not have valves, and if cloth, must have at least two layers of fabric. Attachment B

    • Full water bottle with their first and last name on it

    • A healthy mid-morning snack

    • Any equipment, assignments, and materials that their teacher requests. No personal items should be brought.

  • Discuss safety expectations with your student

    • Maintain 6’ distance from other students and staff inside and outside on campus - Bobcat Paw Stickers will be on the ground for reference

    • Stay within their class group

    • Wear a properly fitted mask while inside and outside on campus, except when drinking water.  Extra masks will be provided by West Side.

    • Use only their own equipment and materials

    • Wash hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer when requested

Drop Off (8:00 - 8:30 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)

  • Through the remainder of the year, families are expected to transport their students to and from school.  The Sonoma County Health Department recommends that carpooling be limited to those that are in the same family and/or stable group (i.e. two fourth grade students who are in the same stable group carpool together)mask wearing, social distancing and cross ventilation protocols continued.

  • Drop Offs will be staggered so they flow quickly.

    • Last names A-L will drop off 8:00-8:15

    • Last names M-Z will drop off 8:15-8:30

  • Say your goodbyes on the drive in to West Side so students are able to exit the car quickly.  Your child should have water bottle and school materials in hand, and be wearing their mask.

  • Pull your vehicle into the drop-off area in front of TK/K - 3 classrooms

  • All students will exit on the passenger-side of the vehicle and must be able to get out of the car without any help from the parent.

  • Student and parent must wear masks

  • Staff will check each student’s temperature before they get out of the vehicle

  • If a student has a temperature of 100.4 or more, they will not be allowed to exit the vehicle and should be taken home immediately.  Parent will be given information on necessary actions, including guidelines to follow before the student can return to campus.

  • Student will go straight into their classroom and use hand sanitizer provided.

If Your Bobcat Exhibits Symptoms of Illness at School

  • The student will be removed from the classroom and taken to the isolation area in Phoenix Hall

  • Parent will be called and must pick up the student within 30 minutes

  • Staff Monitor will wear full PPE to supervise the student until the parent arrives.  Water and a light snack will be provided if needed.

  • Parent should pull their vehicle in front of TK/K-3 classrooms, call the office at 433.3923, and remain in the vehicle. Staff Monitor will escort the student to the parent’s vehicle.

  • Parent will be given information on necessary actions, including guidelines to follow before the student can return to campus.

  • Review the scenarios for students or staff with confirmed or suspected COVID-19.  Attachment C
